Isis takes credit for Orlando massacre (but there's not yet proof)

Islamist terror group Isis has claimed responsibility for the mass shooting at a gay nightclub in Orlando, Florida which has left at least 50 people dead and 53 injured.

Security studies expert Anton Du Plessis offers insights into Isis's strategy.

Though he says it is impossible to determine whether the terror group was directly involved at this stage, according to him, Isis is taking advantage of 'loyalty pledges' to advance their message and global operation.

Their new strategy is to blur the line between active members and supporters. So loyalty pledges, as we have seen in recent attacks in the US, is part of their strategy.

Suspected gunman Omar Mateen reportedly called 911 declaring his allegiance to Isis during the shooting.

Meanwhile, Hollywood correspondent Nadia Neophytou says that it has been alleged that 29-year-old Mateen was also homophobic.
