Finding Mbuyisa Makhubu: What happened to the DNA tests on Victor Vinnetou?

Victor Vinnetou, a South African man in a Canadian prison, is suspected to be the 18-year-old man carrying Hector Pieterson in 1976 who fled to Botswana and then disappeared in Nigeria in 1978.

South African officials have visited Vinnetou to confirm his identity, however, paternal DNA results proved the speculation wrong.

702/Cape Talk's Redi Tlhabi spoke to EWN reporter, Mandy Weiner, on whether Vinnetou is indeed Mbuyisa Makhubu.

In an interesting twist, a Makhubu family member claims that Mbuyisa is not Mbuso Makhubu's biological son.

Listen to the conversation below:

Victor Vinnetou has this birthmark that Mbuyisa Makhubu had, he knows the layout of the family home in Soweto... He knows the date that Mbuyisa Makhubu's father left for exile.

Mandy Weiner, EWN reporter

It has emerged that Raul and Mbuyisa did not share a father, they had different fathers... the mother has passed on, she was cremated, I think she foresaw what was going to happen.

Mandy Weiner, EWN reporter
