Flirty texts add to the case against Marius Fransman, says Daily Maverick journo

After new incriminating evidence surfaced, the National Prosecuting Authority (NPA) in the Northern Cape will investigate the sexual assault claims levelled against Marius Fransman.

The Daily Maverick published a series of text messages apparently sent by the controversial ANC leader to his former employee 20-year-old Louisa Wynand.

This comes after the NPA in the North West had dropped the case due to "insufficient evidence".

Daily Maverick's Marianne Thamm says that there is enough evidence from Wynand, including her statement, for the NPA to conduct a thorough investigation.

Thamm explains that the texts show how Wynand tries to evade suggestive remarks made by Fransman.

You can see throughout the exchange that she tries to, very subtly, not reply to his overt suggestions.

According to Wynand, there are also witnesses who can testify to her distress when she escaped from the Sun City police station after laying charges.

Meanwhile, Fransman's lawyer says it would be “perplexing” if prosecutors in the Northern Cape proceeded with a sexual assault case against his client.
