Mamokgethi Phakeng serves listeners food for thought as the Friday Stand-In

Maths professor Mamokgethi Phakeng led listeners through an engaging show throughout her stint as the Friday Stand-In.

She set the tone of the conversation, reminding listeners of their own power, by opening with the song by Zonke titled "Jik'izinto".

During the open line, Phakeng discussed a range of issues with callers, including violent protests and university language policies.

She also took calls regarding the state of maths education in South Africa.

Phakeng then delved deeper into the conversation about student activism with three young female student leaders in the mathematics field.

She won the hearts of many with her charisma and insight, trending for hours on Twitter.
