Time-up for 'Days of Our Lives' on local screens

Thinus Ferreira, TV critic, dissected the South African Broadcasting Corporation (SABC)’s decision to broadcast 80 percent of local content.

He says the first TV station to see these changes is SABC 3.

The changes include many repeats in the mornings; there will be more episodes of local content but of older shows like Strictly Come Dancing SA.

Among these changes is long running soap opera, Days of Our Lives being chopped off our local screens.

The sand in the hourglass has finally run out for the show on the SABC.

The 80-90 percent local content quota means the United States daily soapie will get the chop in mid-July.

The Bold and the Beautiful, will however stay on.
