Mokonyane: Structure in the Tshwane ANC is divided

Nomvula Mokonyane has rubbished reports that the unrest in Tshwane is directly related to the nomination of Thoko Didiza as Tshwane's mayoral candidate for the 2016 municipal elections.

Mamelodi and Atteridgeville have been marred by scenes of violence after the announcement that Tshwane's mayor, Kgosientso Ramokgopa would leave the post.

Speaking to 702's John Robbie as the ANC head of elections campaigning, Mokonyane admitted to political divisions within ANC Tshwane's political structures.

She also said that no ANC member who understands the guidelines which govern the elections processes would resort to such violence.

Listen to the interview below:

No member of the ANC, who understands the guidelines, will take to the streets once we have arrived at this particular determination.
