US Supreme Court rejects suit against American companies that 'aided apartheid'

Advocate Dumisa Ntsebeza's court bid to sue American companies for their role in apartheid has been declined by the United States Supreme Court.

Ntsebeza, former head of the Truth and Reconciliation Commission (TRC) investigations, believes that there is strong case of evidence that Ford and IBM played a role in the apartheid regime.

There is evidence that they aided and abetted the perpetration of heinous apartheid crimes.

Disappointed by the decision, he says that the appeal was an effort to advance international human rights law.

According Ntsebeza, their legal statement outlined why the American companies should pay damages to people who suffered under apartheid.
