The case against Thandi Modise for animal cruelty still pending

The National Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (NSPCA) says it's disappointed that its investigation into alleged animal neglect on National Council of Provinces (NCOP) chair Thandi Modise’s farm is still pending.

NSPCA protection unit manager, Grace de Lange, says they have laid complaints with the investigating officer that the case is taking too long.

This month, there was additional information that the DPP wanted, which we had supplied. So, we are hoping that is the last information that they are looking for, so that this matter can be finalised.

Two years ago, animals were reportedly left with no food and water for two weeks at Modise's farmhouse in Modderfontein near Potchefstroom. This resulted in more than 50 pigs dying.
