The Friday Stand-In 2016

How to make South Africa a thriving space for entrepreneurs

Entrepreneurship in South Africa is down by half since 2010, according to the Global Entrepreneurship Monitor.

But it is not all bad news. The report states South African entrepreneurs are more innovative than their counterparts in the rest of Africa and have a better global orientation. At least a quarter of revenue comes from global sales.

Three areas effected are entrepreneurial growth; government policy, access to finance and education and training.

To tackle these issues, Vusi is joined in studio by Boitumelo Mofikoe of Impact Capital, Lwandile Booi of Founders Forum, and Lumko Mpande who started Bumka Scooter Rentals.

This is not a conversation about who took what and who's done what and who should have applied what where, this is not a conversation about what has happened in the past. What it is is, a conversation about building the ecosystem we want to see.

Vusi Thembekwayo

The key things that are important to a founder is the mindset, the purpose, the legacy they leave behind and ultimately the influence they have on their businesses and how they solve economic problems in the society that they live in.
