GED investigating 'hateful' letter by Christian School

The Gauteng Education Department says its launched an investigation into a Christian school in Johannesburg that has been accused of being Islamaphobic and advocating for intolerance of other religions in a letter.

The King’s School in Linbro addressed the letter to parents earlier this month.

It has since been circulated on social media.

In the letter Head of Student Affairs, Bob Fuller makes reference to a Muslim property owner who has built a mosque around the school, and goes on to say “I am actually grateful for this daily reminder to pray for Muslims to come to a saving knowledge of Jesus Christ and to intercede for Christian missionaries, some of whom I know personally, who are daily reaching out to Muslims – often at risk of their lives.”

Some South Africans have described it as a slander against the Muslim community.

Gauteng MEC Panyaza Lesufi says they have approached the school and expect to hear from the principal after a board meeting on Monday.
