Minister of Water and Sanitation, Nomvula Mokonyane, has visited Madibeng to discuss the water crisis facing many of the people in the district, who have had no water for many years.
The issue of water was on the spotlight on Wednesday during the Afternoon Drive show #OutForElections special broadcast in Madibeng.
But, the minister told Stephen Grootes on the Afternoon Drive show that people in Madibeng are happy with what government has been able to deliver.
We have gone in to make interventions on the basis of inabilities of municipalities, and as part of back to basis this is the intervention.
— Nomvula Makonyane, Minister of Water and Sanitation
Those who are in that area are actually celebrating, and people are realising that vandalisation of property has been very costly to the work that has been done by government. Hence, we have set up water forums for people to deal with these issues. And officials in the municipality have dealt with those found to be on the wrong side.
