South Africans take to Twitter to voice outrage on Pistorius sentence

South Africans have set twitter alight in strong criticism of Oscar Pistorius' 6-year sentence for murdering Reeva Steenkamp.

In a sentence handed down at the High Court in Pretoria on Wednesday morning, Judge Thokozile Masipa said that the mitigating circumstances outweighed the aggravating factors.

However, various high profile people, friends of Steenkamp, including her best friend, Gina Myers and ordinary South African's insist that Pistorius should spend more time in jail than was handed down.

Neither the Steenkamp family nor the Pistorius family have released statements regarding the recent decision.
