Water and Sanitation Minister, Nomvula Mokonyane, has denied any tender irregularities related to the Lesotho Water Highlands Project.
Labelled as 'Watergate', Public Protector Thuli Madonsela is currently investigating Mokonyane allegedly delaying processes in order for LTE Consulting to be involved. The firm is also under investigation by the Special Investigating Unit (SIU) for receiving tenders without following bidding processes.
702's John Robbie spoke to the minister in an effort to get to the bottom of the issue after a story in the City Press.
Listen to the interview below:
I'm not being investigated, not to my knowledge. We are in discussions with the Public Protector, that's all. We are meeting her on Tuesday.— Nomvula Mokonyane, Minister of Water and Sanitation Services
Mokonyane said that the City Press article points toward resistance towards transformation by journalists peddling lies to further political agendas.
There has been instability in Lesotho for over a year. There was a change in government in Lesotho if you recall. What was also absent in the system was a procurement policy.— Nomvula Mokonyane, Minister of Water and Sanitation Services
