Jacqueline Tizora questions SA's silence on Zimbabwe's shutdown

Journalist at the Daily Vox, Jacqueline Tizora says there is an unsettling silence that some South Africans have shown amid the unrest in Zimbabwe.

Speaking on the perceived lack of support and the long standing problem of afrophobia, Tizora says both countries share more than a border and South Africa cannot afford to ignore Zimbabwean citizens seeking asylum in the country.

Showing solidarity in numbers, taking up space in a productive way is a good way to address it but the most important thing is the education. When I was in school I learned nothing about what Zimbabwe or any of the front-line states did during apartheid and do believe that this disdain or hate would not exist if they knew that SA today would be worse off had it not been for Zimbabwe taking bonds, or for example base camps being set up in Tanzania…
