A cookbook has been created in honour of Madiba's legacy and his love for good food - The Great South African Cookbook.

The book features over 130 recipes, from tried and true classics to contemporary fare, by South Africa's most loved chefs, answering the question 'What is the food you make for the people you love'?

Jenny Crwys Williams spoke to chef David Higgs about the book.

SOMME, INTO THE BREACH BY HUGH SEBAG-MONTEFIORE

This July marks the centenary of The Battle of the Somme - one of the bloodiest battles of the First World War, fought between the British and French forces against the German army, from 1 July to 18 November 1916.

It remains one of the bloodiest battles in human history, leaving more than one million men dead or wounded - all for less than 6 miles of land.

The book publishes in South Africa in August costing R570.00
