The Alex Heritage Centre was completed in 2009 but is still not opened for public viewing.
CEO of the Origins Centre Association, Steven Sack explains that the delays have been caused by poor application processes on the part of government officials.
Architects have told Sack that the centre is in its final stages of preparation before opening its doors.
The centre was pegged to become a mixed-use space, with a retail and business section that never materialised.
He says that the centre will need subsidised funding to become as relevant and sustainable as the Mandela House on Vilakazi Street, Soweto.
