Dali Mpofu: Municipal elections 'a different ball game' for EFF

EFF national Chairperson, Dali Mpofu says the party has had to adopt a new campaign strategy during the party's first attempt to contest municipal elections.

It's very hectic. It's a different ball game from national and provincial elections... We said we'd contest across the entire country, and it was easier said than done.

Dali Mpofu, EFF National Chairperson

Mpofu says that the EFF has invested a great deal in establishing party structures and branches to launch in every province, in order to secure municipal wins.

He explains that EFF leadership has been split and deployed to different regions in the country to campaign.

EFF President Julius Malema has spent the last two weeks in the Northern provinces with Secretary-General Godrich Gardee, while Deputy President Floyd Shivambu has been in Kwa-Zulu Natal and Guateng.

Mpofu says he has spent his time in the Eastern Cape and in the Free State.

According to Mpofu, the EFF is focused on negotiating coalition politics at both a local and national level in the coming years.

Despite seemingly poor media coverage during their campaign trail, Mpofu says the EFF has been able to establish itself as a strong opposition.
