Today's Big Stories, EOH Youth Job Creation Initiative

Gordhan: 702 and EOH job challenge feeding into the future

Finance Minister Pravin Gordhan has endorsed the EOH & 702 Youth Job Creation Challenge.

702 has collaborated with consulting services firm EOH to help combat the high rates of youth unemployment in South Africa.

Businesses are called to pledge 3% or more of their workforce to learnership and internship programmes for unemployed youth.

According to Gordhan, the initiative is investing into the future of South Africa's next generation.

It's about making sure that the next generation of young people have the skills and ability, and are backed up to take over the running of our economy.

Pravin Gordhan, Finance Minister

Gordhan says that there are great opportunities to build partnerships between businesses, labour and government and other sectors.

He explains that the challenge is beyond a business proposition, and is part of a national interest agenda to advance the country's development.

It's building trust, a spirit of co-operation and above all, recognising that besides business interest, it's about looking after today and investing into tomorrow.
