Mantashe denies added campaign pressure on the ANC

All political parties are in their final stretch of campaigning, as prediction polls suggest that ANC is losing supporters ahead of the municipal elections.

However, ANC secretary general Gwede Mantashe says the ruling party has been well-received during it's campaign trail across the country.

Everywhere we've gone, people love the ANC, even those with grievances. We are talking to people who are warm towards us.

Gwede Mantashe, ANC secretary general

Mantashe denied that the ANC spent over R1 billion on electioneering, or that the party was under more pressure than usual.

He maintains that the ruling party has put in the same effort towards their election campaign as in the past.

Mantashe slammed the DA for for appropriating ANC symbols such as Nelson Mandela to garner votes.

He says that it is standard for polling data and election outcome predictions to change during the course of the campaigning.
