The woman convicted of kidnapping Zephany Nurse maintains she did not do it

The Zephany Nurse case began again today in the Western Cape High Court. The Clinical Psychologist assessing the woman convicted of kidnapping Zephany Nurse at Groote Schuur hospital in 1997, was called to testify in mitigation of sentencing.

Mark Steyn told the court that he conducted 13 interviews with the woman over 16 hours. He presented his assessment report in court.

According to Eye Witness News reporter Giovanna Gerbi, the State has argued that Steyn is too inexperienced to deal with the matter. The State prosecutor said the psychologist appears to have been manipulated by the kidnapper, showing sympathy towards her.

Steyn said that the woman has not once admitted to kidnapping the baby. She maintains she was wrongly convicted.
