Zuma well-received by voters in Nkandla

President Jacob Zuma received a warm welcome from residents in Nkandla in KwaZulu-Natal where he cast his vote in today’s local government elections.

Zuma joined the queue in Ntolwane Primary and engaged with residents of the community, reports EWN's Ziyanda Ngcobo.

Zuma applauded the the area’s elderly citizens for exercising their democratic right to vote, Ngcobo explains.

Former state presidents Thabo Mbeki and Kgalema Motlanthe have also cast their votes in Gauteng.

Mbeki voted at the Holy Family College Rosebank, Johanesburg and maintained that his vote remains a secret, in order to uphold the integrity of electoral system and avoid political intimidation.

Meanwhile, Motlanthe was reportedly heckled in the queue at the Killarney Country Club voting station.
