Growth of urban voters changing the political game - analyst

Political analyst Daniel Silke says the municipal elections have revealed the stark distinctions between the rural and urban voter.

Silke says the political landscape continues to change as South Africa's population flocks to metros and urban centres.

He explains that voters in urban areas appear to have different values, aspirations and concerns, compared to those from rural communities.

For some time, analyst have been showing a trend towards a differentiated voter.

Silke says that the difference between rural and urban voters will continue to be a trend in future elections.

According Silke, the ANC is losing its political hold as the liberation party as the importance of government performance begins to outweigh supposed loyalty.
