Teaching your child right from wrong

According to creative parenting expert Nikki Bush children notice everything that parents do, and often end up copying them. So parents need to start at a very early to teach them what they believe to be principles of right and wrong.

She says parents cannot rely on teachers, religious institutions, or the government to teach their children morals because people are flawed and children's "little eyes are watching".

We live in a media saturated world, meaning parents are not raising their children alone. They are competing with what the world exposes to children on television and social media, says Bush.

It is important that parents take a stand and instill values in children in a form of morality, she says.

Everything we do as parents is important because children are watching us. They are a visual generation and children learn what they see

When children get older, they start questioning the values and morals instilled in them. According to Bush, this means that they have a mind of their own and becoming critical thinkers.

She says sometimes children do retain what parents have taught them, and sometimes they abandon those beliefs it as they grow older.

Parents need to be broad minded enough to understand that at some point they are going to be their own individual beings. They are not necessarily carbon copies of you
