DA says they won't compromise manifesto for coalitions

Democratic Alliance (DA) says they want to form coalitions with parties that have voters' interests at heart, committed to fighting corruption, providing decent services, and creating jobs for people.

DA's federal executive chairperson, James Selfe, says they are currently in talks with the EFF, UDM, COPE, IFP and ACDP.

He says his party doesn't want to 'form a government just to be in government'

When we are in discussion with other political parties, we seek to establish whether what is contained in our manifesto is what is contained in their manifestos.

James Selfe, DA federal executive chairperson

What we are looking for is whether we can find political organisations that have sufficient commonality and sufficient commonality of purpose to form a coalition that is going to be stable and lasting.
