How private is 'doctor patient confidentiality'?

Doctor patient confidentiality is breached when a patient's private information is disclosed to a third party without his or her consent.

CapeTalk/702's Eusebius Mckaiser (standing in for Redi Thlabi) was totally gobsmacked when he received a call from his doctor's receptionist informing him that his blood tests were back and that he is fine and has nothing to worry about.

He says he was shocked that the receptionist had access to his medical records that he thought was confidentially between him and his doctor.

He asked 702/CapeTalk listeners to share their experiences about their relationship with their doctors and how confidential is that relationship.

Callers phoned in with stories of breaches of privacy.
