SACP: ANC must humble itself in former strongholds

The South African Communist Party (SACP) says a number of factors have led to the ANC's waning support.

SACP's Solly Mapaila says that internal factionalism, poor ward candidate selections, and controversy such as state capture and the ConCourt ruling on Nkandla, were all negative contributing factors in the municipal election results.

He says that the ruling party's response to allegations, court judgments and economic climates had a huge impact on the election outcome.

According to Mapaila, the tripartite alliance, which he says is under the ANC banner, must humble itself and turn to community members to better understand their voting decisions.

We must listen to communities carefully, and not be arrogant, so that we can understand why people did not turn up in our major constituencies.
