SOS Coalition says Parliamentarians must hold SABC board to account

The South African Broadcast Corporation (SABC) is faced with mounting challenges threatening its ability to perform its roles effectively.

Amid ongoing corporate governance and leadership challenges, CEO James Aguma recently reported a R 411 million loss for the 2015/16 financial year.

702/Cape Talk's Eusebius McKaiser (standing in for Redi Tlhabi) spoke to Kate Skinner from the SOS Coalition who said that members of Parliament are failing to hold the SABC board to account.

If we have lost close to R500 million in five months, then we're moving into an extraordinarily dangerous territory.

Skinner said that the onus lies on the SABC board to ensure that the public broadcaster operates within financially sound practices.
