Political parties start puting forward their demands in coalition haggling

While the four main Metros have been the highlight of this year’s municipal election, there are still 23 additional hung councils that need to be considered.

Smaller political parties have started putting forward demands from the African National Congress (ANC) before they form any coalitions.

Pan African Congress (PAC) has put forward that the ANC should release all its political prisoners, which they believe have been jailed illegally.

African Independent Congress (AIC) wants the decision to incorporate Matatiele into the Eastern Cape reversed.

Xolani Gwala spoke to Paul Berkowitz, director of the Electoral Institute for Sustainable Democracy (EISA), about these demands and coalitions in other metros.
