Sprinter Wayde van Niekerk broke a 17-year record to win the 400 metre final at the Rio Olympics, securing Team South Africa's first gold medal at the Games.
Despite lining up in lane eight, van Niekerk won the race on Sunday night and crossed cross the line in 43:03 seconds.
