Skills training for local mayors and councillors

The National School of Government and the South African Local Government Association (Salga) are collaborating to upskill mayors, councillors and senior managers in local government.

The National School of Government and the South African Local Government Association (Salga) have agreed to collaborate to build capacity and to upskill Mayors, councillors and senior managers in local government.

The two entities will co-ordinate a three year programme to build the skills of local government officials on oversight and policy implementation.

Sipho Manana, Acting Deputy Director-General at the National School of Government, says that the National School of Government and Salga, will also make sure that trainers of the programme receive as much training to successfully carry out their mandate.

Manana spoke to #NightTalk's Gugs Mhlungu and Sizwe Dhlomo.
