SABC's problems are bigger than Hlaudi Motsoeneng - SACP

Alex Mashilo, National Spokesperson of the South African Communist Party (SACP) says Hlaudi Motsoeneng cannot remove himself from a position he was appointed to by the board.

He says the problems at the public broadcaster go beyond any one individual like Motsoeneng. It is a structural and systemic problem, he says.

Former SABC COO Hlaudi Motsoeneng wrote a letter published in The Sunday Times saying that Jackson Mthembu and Jeff Radebe 'ignored a court judgement by taking part in a calculated tactic to torture him through public condemnation'.

Mashilo says the SABC' s board has proven to be a failing institution in making sure the SABC is liberated from the decay that has resulted in the broadcaster driving itself into R411 million loss.

He says all structures of the ANC support the call for Motsoeneng to go. He says opposing views from members should be dealt with by the ruling party.

Kebby Maphatsoe, leader of the MKMVA, came out last week saying that Motsoenengt is a good employee of the SABC.

What a particular individual is doing, making use of his position to propagate things that go against ANC's policy, that we will leave to ANC to resolve.
