ANC councillor passes away after falling ill during Joburg Council sitting

ANC councillor George Makhubo has confirmed that an ANC councillor passed away after falling ill during the City of Johannesburg council sitting.

Nonhlanhla Mthembu was taken by paramedics after collapsing during the council sitting to elect a Mayor for Johannesburg. The ANC subsequently requested a 10 minute break.

After proceedings at the sitting resumed, the political parties at the sitting expressed their condolences.
