Notions of gender testing in athletics are being challenged - Dr Shuaib Manjra

As Caster Semenya's gold medal win at the Rio Olympics continues to be celebrated, the International Association of Athletics Federations (IAAF) is facing scrutiny for its position on athletes with hyperandrogenism.

IAAF President Sebastien Coe says that the world athletics body is to lodge a case to re-look a Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) ruling which stopped hyperandrogenic athletes from taking treatment to suppress their testosterone levels.

The IAAF is of the view that hyperandrogenic athletes should not compete if they do not suppress their naturally high testosterone levels.

Dr Shuaib Manjra, former Chairperson of the Medical Commission at the South African Sports Confederation and Olympic Committee (Sascoc), says more women are challenging notions of gender put forward by athletics federations around the world.

Dr Manjra was speaking to #NightTalk's Gugs Mhlungu and Sizwe Dhlomo.
