Olympic medal seals Brittain's rowing revival

26 August 2016 10:00 PM

Lawrence Brittain shares his resilient journey towards an Olympic silver medal at the Rio Games.

When Lawrence Brittain participated in the 2015 World Rowing Championships, his aim was to ease back into the sport.

In October 2014, Brittain was diagnosed with cancer, but had successfully beat the disease in February last year after chemotherapy.

After his performances at the World Rowing Championships, Brittain qualified for the 2016 Rio Olympics, where he won a silver in the men's coxless pair with Shaun Keeling.

Brittain comes from a family of rowers. His father is a former rower, his older brother Matthew is a 2012 London Olympic gold medalist, while his two younger siblings James and Charles are promising national rowers.

He spoke to #NightTalk's Gugs Mhlungu and Wasanga Mehana about his rowing journey.
