SACP calls for Tripartite Alliance to critically iron out divisions

The South African Communist Party (SACP) is calling for the African National Congress (ANC) to hold an early consultative conference which is not elective, to iron out differences within the party.

Speaking to #NightTalk's Gugs Mhlungu and Sizwe Dhlomo, SACP Deputy Secretary-General Solly Mapaila says that the ANC and its allied partners at the moment are not united, and if the issues behind this are not resolved, it could lead to further divisions.

In the run up to local government, we've seen a lot of factionalism, exclusion of members and abuse of democratic processes. All those things created disunity inside the ANC and its also affecting alliance partners

Solly Mapaila, SACP Deputy Secretary-General

Mapaila says that these internal differences within the Tripartite Alliance were reflected in the local government elections, where the ANC suffered loses in key municipalities.

The people have shown that they were unhappy with the problems of factionalism and also the perceived leadership is corrupt

Solly Mapaila, SACP Deputy Secretary-General

Mapaila says that the SACP believes a consultative process is needed to discuss critically issues affecting the ANC and its alliance partners, to pave the way forward for the movement.

We feel can rectify the mistakes we have made through a proper consultation in the movement

Solly Mapaila, SACP Deputy Secretary-General
