Zim officials deny communications shut down

Reports of a cellular communications shutdown in Zimbabwe have been denied by that country's officials, that's according to EWN Africa correspondent, Jean Jacques Cornish.

He said this rumour has been perpetuated on social media, Twitter in particular. However, he added that the chorus for President Robert Mugabe to step down has gotten louder.

The former veterans are among those saying it's time for Mugabe to go.

The veterans have previously been staunch Mugabe supporters.

Jean Jacques Cornish told Stephen Grootes that Mugabe left the SADC summit and is headed to Dubai on a plane for treatment.

He's (Mugabe) 92, and 94-years-old by the time of the next elections in 2018.
