Pravin Gordhan will go, not Zuma - Dawie Roodt

Dawie Roodt, chief economist and director at the Efficient Group says as the war between Finance Minister Parvin Gordhan and the Hawks continues, something has to give. He says there are two forces, the Zuma force and Pravin force and he suspects that the Zuma force is the strongest.

The President is the strongest and most powerful person in the country, the man that appoints all cabinet ministers, Governor of the Reserve Bank as well as the Finance Minister, says Roodt.

Just like what happened in Brazil, we don't really see inside it. We don't really see a lot of insiders criticize the President but a lot of outsiders do. The reason insiders don't criticize the President is that this is their bread and butter, it is their jobs.

Roodt says that if insiders start criticizing the President they could loose their jobs.

According to Roodt, Pravin Gordhan is currently under tremendous pressure and he wont be surprised if he goes. He further said that President Zuma is shrewd and has many people who are benefiting from his position as the President of the country.

You either jump or you get pushed.

A lot of people don't want Zuma to go, they want him to stay because of all the benefits from knowing the President well.
