Dr Mathole Motshekga says 'alien voices' threatening ANC

Former ANC chief whip Dr Mathole Motshekga says the ruling party has been captured by a faction which has no capacity to lead government and has no respect for internal democracy.

Motshekga says he believes the greatest threat to the ANC is factionalism, and the power hungry group that wants to hold an early elective conference to wipe out independent leadership.

After writing an opinion piece in a weekend newspaper, Motshekga says that he has made his views public in order to help the ruling party reflect.

This is a time for reflection in the ANC... I thought it important to make a contribution to that process.

According to Motshekga, there are alien voices within the party trying to derail from official party positions and constitutional processes.

He says that the ANC must listen to grievances and address groups and situations that are not in line with the liberation movement.
