Healing the heart of a nation

“Spine-chilling, sadistic and disturbing,” The apt words of Mondli Makhanya from the City Press used to describe the rape of the teenager at Jan Kempdorp School in the Northern Cape. Perpetrators of this heinous act were joined by onlookers who filmed and laughed during the teenager’s ordeal.

We need a national therapy session, where the country’s psyche will be fully diagnosed and treated.

In the dormitory at Jan Kempdorp, ‘the other’ was reportedly ‘race’. This is where a group of young boys regarded the brutalization, humiliation and degradation off a fellow student, a ‘friend’, ‘the other’ as fun and games.
