Corruption is public enemy number one, says Mashaba

Herman Mashaba has met with various Heads of Department (HoDs) in the 14 days that he's been in the hot seat as Joburg Mayor.

Mashaba explains that he and HoDs unpacked development projects in the City and mapped out an overview of plans.

He says that he and his team drew up a 10 point plan for the City in the short to medium term.

Among the plans are the following:

  • administrative corruption be declared "public enemy number one".
  • create a professional civil service that serves the public and not political parties.
  • reduce unemployment and accelerate GDP growth of 5% in the City.

He expressed that economic revitalisation in the metro can only be achieved through collaboration with the private sector, small businesses and the rejuvenation of entrepreneurship.

We need to destroy this tenderpreneur culture and bring out the real talent of our people, regardless of their political affiliation.
