We want moratorium on fee increments until we get free education - Wits SRC

Wits Student Representative Council (SRC) is calling for the university not to increase fees until free education is implemented.

Wits SRC legal affairs officer Muhammed Patel says students will not stop protesting until they get what they want from the university.

He says all students want to go back to school and are willing to negotiate.

Patel disagrees with the university's view that it has to increase fees to survive financially.

The university has been as a business and making a profit. In reserves there is +/- R50 billion which could be tapped into.
