Being an introvert does not mean you are shy - psychologist

Dr Helgo Schomer looked at the differences in characteristics between introverts and extroverts and explained how introversion differs from shyness. He says introverts are not afraid of people and shyness has insecurity and social anxiety attached to it.

Dr Schomer says introverts make good listeners. They want to understand whats being said whereas extroverts can miss the small details and the nuances of the conversation.

Dr Schomer also spoke about the characteristics of a shy person, saying they long to be part of a group but they cant bring themselves to be in group situations because they become anxious feeling they are being judged.

However, he says there is a degree of introversion and extroversion in everyone.

There are people who are mixes between the two, they are half-way markers and that is not a problem.
