SABC board grilled on Motsoeneng appointment

The SABC board has appeared before the Parliamentary Communication Portfolio Committee over the appointment of Hlaudi Motsoeneng as the new group executive for corporate affairs.

There are claims that Motsoeneng received a bonus of R10 million.

According to EWN reporter, Kevin Brandt, the SABC board says Motsoeneng went through a transparent disciplinary hearing and has been cleared of all charges against him.

The opposition parties say in appointing Motsoeneng, the board neglected all processes and rulings from the High Court and Supreme Court of Appeal.

The opposition parties argued that even though there have been numerous calls for the removal of Motsoeneng, the board still went ahead and reappointed him.

Brandt says the sitting will continue til 16:00 this afternoon

It will be interesting to see how the SABC boards bounces back in answering some of the questions they've been asked.
