Water outages looming if you don't save water- Joburg Water

City of Johannesburg member of the mayoral committee, Anthony Still, says there has only been 5% decrease in water usage since the implementation of level 2 water restrictions last month.

Still says the City will now be tougher on customers as they have failed to show the ability to decrease water usage by 15%.

Yesterday Minister of Water and Sanitation Nomvula Mokonyane announced that Gauteng will cut municipalities' water supply by 15%.

The Vaal Dam is now only 30% full and that level is dropping as the drought continues across the country.

If we don't drop our water supply, we are going to get to a situation where we have water outages like power outages. And when you have water outages it is much more serious on the system. It damages water badly to have water stopping and starting. We are appealing to people to take it serious.

Anthony Still, City of Joburg member of mayoral committee.
