Calm for now at Wits and UCT

EWN reporter, Shamiela Fisher has reported no acts of violence overnight at the UCT campus, adding that it's been peaceful.

The students have indicated that there will be a mass meeting on Thursday to discuss the way forward, says Fisher.

Students are saying that if the university management continues to ignoring their demands and continue with classes they can't promise that they will remain peaceful. They will resort to violence if that's the only way management will consider their demands.

Fisher says students are not happy that security has been brought to campus. Yesterday there was a heavy security presence, following students around as they were marching.

At Wits, there were no reports of violence overnight.

EWN reporter, Clement Manyathela says there was a clash on campus on Wednesday between the students who want academic activities to continue and the #FeesMustFall protesters.

He says university management has agreed on a general assembly with various stakeholders to be held on Friday. The general assembly was the outcome of a mediation by EFF's Dali Mpofu and Terry Tselane of the IEC.
