Commuters say no to Putco service in Soweto

Soweto commuters are now trying to get alternative means of transport after filing several complaints with Putco. This is according to Nomthandazo Motlhabane, one of the commuters who is petitioning against the Putco service in Soweto.

Motlhabane says Putco buses arrive late and sometimes get break down on the roads.

Yesterday Putco bus passengers hijacked a bus out of frustration after being left stranded for two hours.

It is about time we get another transport system in place because Putco yehlulekile (failed).

Some people are even fired at work because they arrive late. We are moving forward from Putco.

People have been mugged because they get off from the buses late. We have spoken numerous times to Putco but there is absolutely no help.

Putco spokesperson, Tshepo Tsotsotso, says he is willing to address challenges faced by commuters.

Tsotsotso says the challenges are due to under-funding by the Transport Department in Gauteng.
