Parks Tau is SALGA's newly-elected chairperson

Former Joburg mayor Parks Tau has been elected as SALGA's (South African Local Government Association) chairperson.

The organisation is made up of 10 non-permanent seats to represent all provinces and in legislative developments alongside premiers and national government.

702's John Robbie spoke to him regarding how he will manage a balancing act between his new position and being an opposition representative in the City of Joburg Council led by Herman Mashaba.

He said that his role in SALGA does not represent any conflict of interest with being an opposition party representative in the City Council as it's a part-time commitment.

Listen to the conversation below:

I'm stepping in because Thabo Manyoni was sworn in as a Member of Parliament on Tuesday. It is a part-time responsibility.
