Save South Africa advocates for a new culture of ethical leadership

7 October 2016 12:54 PM

Save South Africa is a new organisation led by Sipho Pityana, calling for President Jacob Zuma's resignation.

A new coalition of civil society organisations, Save South Africa, calls for President Jacob Zuma's resignation.

Save South Africa is led by the chairman of AngloGold Ashanti Sipho Pityana. Other members include former Finance Minister Trevor Manuel, Section 27 CEO Mark Heywood and Kathrada Foundation CEO Shan Bolton.

Member of Save South Africa steering committee, Lawson Naidoo, says the Constitution provides for the removal of the president in certain circumstances.

Naidoo says the Constitutional Court found that the President broke is oath of office, and that should be enough reason for South Africans to mobilise and call for his resignation.

We are calling on South Africans to mobilise, not just for the removal of president from the office, but to create a new kind of democratic culture, a culture of ethical leadership in South Africa that can help us.
