State drops all charges against murder accused Nico Henning

The High Court in Pretoria has dropped charges against Nico Henning, the Pretoria businessman accused of murdering and conspiring to murder his wife Chanelle Henning.

Henning was shot dead after dropping her son at school on the morning of November 8, 2011.

Four people have been convicted in the case.

The two hit-men were convicted in 2011. Former policeman Gerhardus du Plessis, and Willem Pieterse, are serving 18-year prison sentences after pleading guilty to the murder.

Du Plessis and Pieterse implicated two other people, former policeman and close friend of Nico Henning Andre Gouws and former Nigerian Olympic athlete Ambrose Monye, who were sentenced to life imprisonment for their roles in the killing in 2013.

According to EWN reporter, Barry Bateman, Gouws implimicated Nico Henning as the mastermind behind the murder and became the state's key witnesses.

It is not clear why the state withdrew the charges.

We understand that Gouws was not cooperating with the prosecutor.
