Wits students set bus alight

Protesting students are pelting stones at police who are retaliating by firing stun grenades.

University of the Witwatersrand protesting students have burnt a bus on Jorissen street in Braamfontein.

According to EWN reporter Clement Manyathela students forced passengers off the bus before setting it alight.

Today we saw the biggest crowd since the protest started four weeks ago.

Manyathela says there are a few police officers managing the situation.

Most shops in Braamfontein are closing due to chaos on the streets.

Earlier on there were clashes between students, police and campus security on campus. Some students have been injured.

I saw medical students have set up in a shop assisting students that have been affected by stun grenades and rubber bullets that police are firing.

Students are no longer allowed to enter campus.
